The Next Level - issue 6

It's time again for the weekly challenge over on TNL, this weeks theme is buttons & bows. The DT have outdone themselves on this one.

Here's my take on the challenge. I only included one button and one bow, so i hope it counts.

The sentiment is another one of the Happy Birthday 40 Different Ways from The Cutting Cafe'.
The Spellbinder butterfly is suspended in the aperture using a piece of clear fishing line.

40 ways!!!!

The new release of printable stamps from The Cutting Cafe' is Happy Birthday 40 different ways, so you'll never be stuck for the perfect sentiment for all those Birthday cards you make ever again. The only problem with this huge set, is which one to use first.
Check out The Cutting Cafe' for details of how to win this set for free, but be quick you only have until Tuesday night to enter.

This card is for my dear Nanny, who celebrates her 82nd birthday next month. I just love that branch cut from the Storybook cart, you may have noticed i have used before. lol

The Next Level - issue 5

It's another fantastic issue of The Next Level this week. This weeks challenge is sketch based, and again the design team have made some stunning samples. I'm really not happy with my finished card, i'm actually a little embarrassed showing it, i think i over did the gold embossing powder for a start, but i don't have the time to make another one, so here it is.
Just one more thing, i'd like to wish all my blogging friends in the USA, a very happy 4th July, hope you have a great weekend!!!!

Here's one i made earlier

I almost forgot to show my final Craftytemplates DT card for June. I coloured this cute Giraffe image digitally using Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10. I've never tried digi colouring before, but i really liked the effect and will do it again for sure.
I've had to take this month off making samples for CT, as i have a holiday coming up soon, and i'm a bit strapped for time, but the July card kit (pictured below) is on sale now, and it looks fab as usual. (I'm rather gutted i never got to work with it).

PfP challenge #6

OMG i can't believe it's July already, how did the other six months of this year pass by me?

This weeks PfP challenge colours are Moss & Poppy, and as an extra twist, you also have to include something tasty. The design team have done it again and produced some gorgeous samples.
The i used image is a digital stamp from Pollycraftdesigns, and the sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe'.

Why..........

is it the simplest of cards, take the longest to make?
I had the design of a card in my head all of yesterday, i even used my Cricut design studio to do the lay out, so in theory all i had to do was cut it out and stick it together, right? No.
The first problem was choosing the papers to use, then i kept changing my mind, then went back to the first ones i picked out. Then i wasn't sure whether to leave the top half of the card bare, but in the end this is what i ended up with, it's a very simple card, probably looks like a really quickie but i know how many hours went into making it. I just hope my friend likes it and doesn't think it was a rush job.
I gave the word 'friend' (from GS cart) three coats of clear UTEE to give it dimension and shine. The scalloped circle is from Mini Monos , the branch is from Zooballoo and the butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch. The papers are MME Bloom.

The Next Level challenge 4

For this weeks challenge there's a choice to make either a STAIR STEP FOLD CARD or a FREE STANDING POP UP CARD, i have made a few of the pop up cards before, but have never made a stair step fold card, so thought i'd give it ago. There's instructions on how to make both styles of card on the The Next Level blog. The design team have done it again and made some gorgeous sample cards.
Anyway here's my card, which i have had a nightmare trying to get a decent photo of, unfortunately this is the best i could get. My camera really doesn't like taking pics of glittery cards.
The word friend is attached to the second step with acetate, so looks like it's suspended in mid air in real life.

Strawberry cupcake anyone?

What could be better to go with a yesterdays pot of tea for one?, how about a yummy Strawberry cupcake? (calorie free of course).
This card is made from another one of this months 'Craftytemplates', again i used this months 'Shabby Chic' card making kit. I think i need more of these Doodlebug papers they are just so gorgeous.

Time for tea

This months Craftytemplates card making kit is called 'Shabby Chic', think June picnics or a tea party with a hint of strawberries and pretty trims. This kit contains some brand new just released goodies from Jenni Bowlin and Doodlebug, teamed with bright and neutral coloured cardstock and vintage coloured buttons and shabby chic trims. The kit compliments this months templates perfectly (available separately), my favorite being this cute teapot. I printed it onto DP, cut it out, cut off the lid and attached it to a tag with a teabag stuck onto it, and made this fun card.

For Dad

With Father's Day just around the corner and my Dad's birthday in August, the release of these new SHIRT & TIE shaped card templates and circle words from The Cutting Cafe' was timed perfectly. The set comes with templates for perfectly sized envelopes too, so you could make receiving the card even more special by putting it in an envelope made out of matching papers.
